Quality Assurance - Policies and Objectives

 

The purpose of MARTEL's quality assurance program is to derive analytical data under such precisely controlled and documented conditions that all clients can be assured of their validity, reliability, and incontrovertibility.  MARTEL fully understands the critical nature of data generated, as costly decisions and liability may result from the use of these data.  

 

 

Accreditations and Certifications

 

Drinking Water, State of Maryland: Certificate number is #107.  

 

Martel has maintained drinking water certification with the State of Maryland since the inception of the program in the early 1980’s.  This certification is from the Maryland Department of the Environment, Water Supply Program

Drinking Water, Commonwealth of Virginia: Laboratory ID #  00203.  

 

This program is maintained through reciprocity with Virginia, and the areas of certification are identical to those maintained in Maryland.

 

NELAC Accreditation for Non-Potable and Drinking Water through the Commonwealth of Virginia, Laboratory ID # 460017 , Interim Certificate #675.

 

Martel recently completed an extensive process to gain NELAC accreditation through Virginia’s Division of Consolidated Laboratory Services NELAP Recognized Accreditation Body.  An on-site visit is planned in December of 2010.   Please see file below for complete parameter list, certificate, and further information.

The American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) has accredited Martel for technical competence in the field of Environmental Testing.

 

This accreditation is in accordance with the recognized International Standard ISO/IEC 17025:2005, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories.  The Environmental Scope of Accreditation is described below:

 

A2LA Certificate Number 2126.01 Testing Technologies in the field of Environmental Lead, (U.S. EPA ELAP program) to include DUST, PAINT AND SOIL.    

 

Martel has been performing analysis under the ELAP program and A2LA since 2004, and tests thousands of environmental lead samples every year.  

 

Consumer Product Safety Commission for Children’s Metal Jewelry, Lead in Paint.

 

Martel performs testing of Consumer Products under 16 Code of Federal Regulations, Part 1303, and CPSC Test Method CPSC-CH-E10E1001-08.  Martel is one of very few laboratories located in the United States to maintain this accreditation
